The current mayor of New York, one of the biggest, popular and most beautiful cities in the United States Of America, Mr. Eric Leroy Adams has shared his most exciting and unforgettable moment in Ghana, the first West African country to gain independence.
A little over a year ago, the sixty-two year old American politician and former police officer visited Ghana, the land of rich culture and he was overly amazed right from the airport till his departure. According to him, the hospitality he received was amazing and unforgettable.
“The counsel general met me at the airport when i travelled to Ghana a little over a year ago and the hospitality i received in Ghana was amazing”
He shared this experience at a very colorful event in New York to celebrate Ghana’s 66th independence day. Present at the event were executives from the Ghana Tourism Authority, Ghanaians in the diaspora and many white people.
The mayor’s visit was part of president Akuffo-Addo’s invitation to Africans in the diaspora to come home and contribute their quota to the country’s growth.
According a story by starrfmonline.com, during the mayor’s stay in Ghana, he had a traditional cleansing rites performed by Akwamufie traditional council in the Eastern Region.
He was installed as a sub-chief with stool name Barima Yaw Asamani. He was named after the late Chief and great warrior in the history of the traditional area.
In 2022, ghanaiantimes.com reported the mayor’s pledge to support Ghana become Africa’s tourism hub. This promise came after Ghana’s minister of tourism made him tourism ambassador.
“I have been to Ghana, and I enjoyed my stay in that beautiful country, Ghana is a peaceful country with a globally respected President,” emphasized.
