The road that leads to the Odweanoma mountains in Kwahu, Eastern region where the paragliding festival takes place still not completed.
Chief of Atibie, key member of the Kwahu Traditional Area, Barimah Kwame Asante Betiani has called on the government to complete the road leading to the site.
The chief engaging some media personalities earlier this morning expressed his unhappiness about the current state of the road, which he described as the only thing taking away the beauty of the festival.
According to him, appropriately, the road should have been completed before the start of the occasion that attracts visitors from many parts of the country and overseas. He believes the nature of the roads doesn’t speak well of the place and moreover, it undermines its promotion.
He said it is extremely important that such popular place which brings lots of foreigners and income to the country every year gets the needed attention.
The history of this activity dates back as March 2003 when the then minister in charge of tourism, the late Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey toured the area to have conversations on better means of promoting and monetizing the Easter festival and its activities.
The first Ghana Paragliding festival was launched in 2005 by the late former Vice President, H.E Alhaji Aliu Mahama.
