President of the republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo has addressed the current shortage of vaccines for children in the country, he has said that no Ghanaian child should be denied vaccines according to a story by atinkaonline.com

Since last week, shortage of vaccines has been one of the most written and talked about issues in the country, some have lambasted the government for such an unfortunate occurrence.

The president spoke extensively on this issue in the ongoing State Of The Nation addressed at the parliament house of the country.

“I must say, however, that the current shortage of some childhood vaccines in the country has concerned me greatly. This shortage, if prolonged, will affect negatively Ghana’s Childhood Immunization Program, which has been recognized as one of the most successful in the world. The World Health Organization has only recently expressed worry about a steady decline in measles vaccination coverage globally, because of the concentration on the fight against COVID-19.”

The president has assured the Ghanaian populace that his government has putting measures in place to immediately get more of these vaccines to prevent unfortunate health situations.

According to the president, the Ghana Health Service is working assiduously to ensure these children are attended to when the vaccines are in.

“I want to encourage all parents and caregivers to ensure that eligible children are vaccinated, once this programme begins. No child should be denied access to vaccination. Mercifully, so far, not a single child has died as a result of the outbreak,” he said.
